Lisa Acerbo
Trumbull High School English Teacher Lisa Acerbo did not take summer breaks when it came to writing.
The result is her first book, Apocalipstick, an adult paranormal romance that came out Aug. 8.
In the vein of post-apocalypse fiction and the undead, the book follows College Student Jenna as she and band of others make their way through a world where most people have died from a virus, and some have returned with a hunger for the living.
Acerbo summarized her book as "being alive after the apocalypse is bad, but when the undead return, hungry for humans, times turn darker.
Lisa is also an adjunct at the University of Phoenix and was a freelance writer for the Connecticut Post, Trumbull Patch and Hollywood Scriptwriter.
Acerbo said she moved to Trumbull in 2001 and was born and raised in Greenwich.
Lisa lives with her husband, Frank, two daughters, Dominique and Jessica, plus three cats and two horses.

She's a graduate of the CT School of Broadcasting and has earned a BFA in Theatre and an MA in English.

Janice Law
Janice Law Trecker calls Homeward Dove, "a novel close to my heart [that] has finally seen print."
Homeward Dove is a contemporary novel, with strong mystery elements, set in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut.
Law calls Dove "a story about a crime and its complicated aftermath."
Early on, Law taught for several semesters at the University of Hartford, and at the UConn West Hartford campus.
Then, after getting her doctorate, Law taught for roughly 20 years at UConn's main campus.
She has also taught at the middle school and high school levels, and has done some adult education.
Law said that she always planned to be a reader, not a writer, and her first love is painting, which she still does regularly.
"I had a spell of ill health in my mid-20s, and wound up reading a lot of mysteries," she said.
By the time Law got better, she "was into the not-so-good mystery authors, and beginning to complain," she said.
Law's sportswriter husband suggested writing a book herself, so she did.
Law has lived in the Quiet Corner for 28 years. She states, "I feel at home in rural areas, love to go walking and birding, and am a keen gardener," said Law, "all of which find their way into the books."

Katherine Kalagher (Katie) was born in Arlington, Texas, but has lived in New England for the majority of her life. Never Mind the Poetry (2007) was her first novel, inspired by her experience becoming a mother at age 19. Katie went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Women's Studies from University of Hartford, a Master's degree in English from Trinity College, and most recently earned her doctorate from American International College.
